What’s New?
Episode 28 - Snapchat!
Ever heard of Snapchat? We chatted with not 1 but 2 Recruiters from Snap Inc.! Alex Bader and Lauren Turrisi are Lead Business Recruiters at Snap having worked there for a combined 4+ years. Previously, Alex spent 8 years as a Talent Acquisition Manager at Hulu and Lauren spent 3 years as a Talent Acquisition Senior Manager at Ketchum, a PR agency.
We discuss the recruiting competition between Snapchat and other social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, etc.), their thoughts on XR (extended reality), the dos and don’ts of recruiter phone screens, and more! This episode is one of our favorite (Snapchat) memories, and we bet it will be one of yours as well…

Question: Now that Summer is here, how can I get (and stay ahead) of others, while still enjoying myself before returning to school?
-Owen M.
The Summer has finally arrived! School’s out, the temperature is high, and fun times are ahead. At the same time, Summer presents a great opportunity to network, prep for interviews, and refine your resume (in a less-stressful environment!). Take advantage of the career services that many schools offer over the Summer. The Final Round also offers a TON of resources to help you throughout the process, from blog posts to both long and short-form video content, and even a Free LinkedIn Learning course!
Creating a schedule for yourself is helpful to stay on track and minimize stress. Even when you’re not in class, find a few hours a week to focus on your career development. We’ve found that blocking off 3-4 hours at the same time each week can help create a sense of commitment and will go a long way!
It’s also important to note that the Summer is a great time to take a break from the stress, enjoy time with friends, and clear your head. Stay on track, and be aware of your deadlines, all while still making time to recharge your batteries — your body and mind need it.
Business Buzz
What’s going on in the world of recruiting, careers, job/internship searches, employment, and layoffs.
The start of summer is upon us! While bankers, consultants, and employees across all other industries are more than familiar with heavy workloads, many employers do prioritize summer fun both inside and outside the office. Let’s check out what some of the nation’s top firms have done and continue to do to keep their employees happy.
Deloitte University
Located in Westlake, Texas, Deloitte University is a half learning center/half retreat, providing a wide range of activities for over 4,500 recruits and interns every year. From fitness centers and health consultants to a wide range of top-quality food offerings, Deloitte University provides its employees a great opportunity to connect, learn, and also unwind.
Meta’s Menlo Park Arcade
Meta’s world-renowned Menlo Park HQ offers more than just an elaborate workspace for its employees. Emphasizing a work-hard, play-hard attitude, Menlo park provides Meta employees the opportunity to unwind in its vintage video arcade. Meta’s Menlo Park arcade is just one example of companies going above and beyond to create an incredible office space for their employees.
Google’s 150-foot Rule
Google is known for having some of the coolest, most creative offices across the world; and to go with it, some of the best perks and rewards programs. Employees at Google offices are not only allowed but encouraged to design their workspaces as they would like. Google has a “150-foot rule,” meaning no matter where you work in the offices, you will never be less than 150 ft. from a (free) meal, snack, or beverage.
Bain & Company’s “Extra 10s”
Consulting firms are considered to have some of the most demanding work hours; however, that doesn’t mean these firms don’t care about their employees’ lives outside of work. Bain & Company offers its employees “Extra 10s” which gives “Bainies” (employees at Bain) the chance to get involved in groups/organizations such as Bain Band, the Wellness Team, Run Club, the Green Team, Inspire (pro-bono consulting), Women at Bain, and more.
Why it Matters
Work can be long and stressful, and employers know this. Now more than ever, employers are going above and beyond to ensure their employees are happy at their job, whether inside or outside of the office. So when recruiting for roles, make sure you ask about the additional opportunities such as benefits and perks.
