Get Ahead Feature
AJ was recently featured by Get Ahead on LinkedIn News, discovering the characteristics and implications of hybrid work schedules, which have taken the world by storm since the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the article, AJ and Get Ahead host Brandi Fowler discuss what a hybrid work schedule means, how to maximize a hybrid schedule, and the best ways to effectively communicate your hybrid schedule with your boss and coworkers. As hybrid schedules are relatively new, you may feel a bit odd implementing them into your weekly work schedule.

Business Buzz 🐝
Amazon’s Pause
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy recently announced that Amazon will pause hiring for corporate-related roles. This news comes following a surge in hires following the Covid-19 pandemic in which hiring exploded across the firm to keep up with the demands of online shopping. However, as consumers return back to in-store shopping, Amazon believes its need for corporate employees has been met. Jassy mentioned that this stoppage will take place for the next couple of months, but will keep an eye on both economic and internal factors to adjust as necessary.
Twitter Takeover
Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has been all the rage recently. Having already fired former CEO Parag Agrawal and other top executives, the company has just laid off about 50% of its workforce. The source announced these layoffs will vary across many different departments, including sales, engineering, product, legal, and trust and safety. Evidently, Musk’s impact is sudden and serious, a result he explains is due to lower revenue from dropouts from advertisers on the platform.
Frozen Apple
Just like Amazon, Apple has also implemented a hiring freeze. This pause could last all the way through September 2023, targeting full-time employees within the company itself. While Apple itself has only gone as far as to say a “caution” in bringing on new members, various sources have told Insider that caution is an understatement.
Stripe’s Strife
Stripe joins the party, announcing a layoff of 14% of its workforce due to both internal and external concerns. Fears of recession, heightened inflation, and energy shocks, along with under-estimated operating costs, have led the online retail giant to follow suit with other big tech companies. CEO Patrick Collision admitted mishaps among leadership, citing an internet economy underperforming its growth projections.
What it Means
Layoffs and job pauses are all but uncommon nowadays. It’s just the state of the economy. But that doesn’t mean you should be discouraged. There’s still plenty of firms actively seeking new hires.
